Premier League Week 1 Recap

AI is everywhere, but is Microsoft Copilot good at picking NFL games? There seem to be some demons in the machine, but Frank, Eddie, and Copilot are all confident about the Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, LA Rams, Dallas Cowboys, and Arizona Cardinals heading into week 2. More injuries for the San Francisco 49ers mean that their season is already in peril, but can they survive against the New Orleans Saints without Brock Purdy? And a Super Bowl rematch is upon us, but Eddie is supremely confident that the Philadelphia Eagles will once again come out on top against the Kansas City Chiefs. Plus, 'The Paper' might actually be a good show, and it turns out that it's harder than you'd think to ship a Whoop.

The first week of the 2025/26 NFL season is (nearly) in the books, but did Week 1 really teach us anything? Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen played out an instant classic, but does the Buffalo Bills' comeback against the Baltimore Ravens mean that they should be favorites if they meet again in the playoffs? The San Francisco 49ers, the Cincinnati Bengals, Denver Broncos, and Arizona Cardinals were all unconvincing winners, and Eddie believes that we can already write off the Niners, Kansas City Chiefs, and the Bengals.  Plus, did the Green Bay Packers, LA Chargers, and Philadelphia Eagles do enough to show that they could be difficult to beat this year? And 'The Office' spinoff is out, but both Eddie and Frank believe that there could be some major character problems with 'The Paper'.

Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Spurs all got off to winning starts, but should Arsenal be concerned by their lacklustre display against Manchester United? The big stories of the weekend came from Newcastle United and Brentford, where Alexander Isak and Yoane Wissa are desperately trying to force moves. Plus, Joe Flacco and Daniel Jones are named starters for Week 1 of the NFL season, but should Browns and Colts fans be happy with those decisions? And Eddie has another parenting question.

For the first time in podcast history, Eddie is predicting that Liverpool will defend their title and be crowned Premier League Champions this season, but can Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester City throw up a serious challenge? The promoted sides look set to struggle again, but Leeds United may have enough to survive at the expense of Wolves or Brentford.
