Makayla Dorman: Child and Family Specialist at a Los Angeles Mental Health Agency

This episode highlgiths Makayla Dorman a California State University, Bakersfield (Antelope Valley) alumni who works as a child and family specialist at a Los Angeles mental health agency. In this episode, we talk about Makayla's pilot study on college students' experiences with online schooling during COVID-19. We also chat about her internship experience with the Kern Literacy Council as an online tutor. Lastly, we talk about her current position as a child and family specialist and what it's like to be on the job.

In this episode, I talk to Dr. Solen Sanli Vasquez, a sociology faculty member at Santa Rosa Junior College, and Daniel Miguel, a student at Santa Rosa Junior College, about their study of ex-Jehovah's Witnesses. Their research investigates the experiences of individuals when they leave the organization through voluntary or involuntary exit. Some ideas and concepts of the study include social death, total institutions, resocialization, mortification of the self, and reprogramming of the self.
