Mark Growden is one of those people who sees an instrument, touches it, and instinctively knows how to play it, most of the time.  He is a composer, choral director, and visual artist. He has released a number of records and there is more to come!  His current release, 11 Hours is all Jaw Harp. Mark has a quick mind and perceives deeply.  He travels and plays music with people, he’s curious, so always learning. Mark is also a teacher and he tells us about that. Veronneau is a duo, Lynn Veronneau and Ken Avis. Hailing from Quebec and Northern England respectively, they met and found partnership in music and in life. Their new record Blue Tapestry celebrates two iconic albums by two pioneering women in music, Joni Mitchell and Carole King. Josh Fortenbery is an Alaskan musician with roots in the deep south of the United States, as well as Jewish roots from Europe.  His musical influences range from Bluegrass to Folk to Rock.  His new album Tidy Memorial is a collection of very personal songs exploring grief and loss, with passion and conscience. Josh’s songwriting and storytelling echo with the tradition of bards from times gone by, while addressing modern concerns and events. The conversation with Baruch covers a lot of ground. Anthony Taddeo of Alla Boara visits Paradigms to share some of his story, to talk about Alla Boara and to share their new record Work & Song, a live album that captures the joy and passion of this music. Alla Boara brings together traditional Italian folk songs from around Italy, with contemporary undertones of jazz and folk. Inspired by his heritage, Anthony researched the music of his forbears, and, along with his fellow musicians, has created this new take on old songs. Strat Andriotis has been playing music since he was a young person, and as many do, he started out on one instrument and then found that another was his true calling. John Patrick Elliot has been playing music since he was a child, discovering ways to bring his imagination to life with soundscapes and song.  He started out as a solo performer under the name The Little Unsaid but that eventually blossomed into a full band. They have released a number of albums and the most recent, just dropped, is Stay Fragile All Across This Cold Frontier, a collection of 11 tracks, each of which will take you on a trip. John is one of those people who lives music. Ben Clifton is a pianist and composer.  He’s just released his debut album Overlook which is 14 original pieces all great to listen to, and to travel with in your mind. The compositions are dimensional and the musicianship on the record is excellent.  This is wonderful music. Ben shares some of his life experience with us in the conversation with Baruch, and we listen to some of the tracks from the album.
