Did We Podcast HBO's Girls Back To Life?!

Youth culture anthropologist and writer Casey Lewis (Teen Vogue, New York Mag, After School) shares her brilliant insights with us on this week’s episode, SATC S3E3: “Attack of the Five Foot Ten Woman.” Our ladies are feeling insecure this week. Carrie can’t stop being half-naked when running into Natasha, so she goes into closet debt for Natasha’s Women Brunch. Miranda hires Mags from The Hunger Games as her housekeeper and is judged in Ukrainian. Charlotte all of sudden can’t stand her thighs, and Samantha exposes a masseur who won’t go down on her.  We imagine how Natasha would content farm her journey to the altar, gawk at the surprising prevalence of happy ending massages in the city, chat draining your legs in the steam room, and marvel at the Herculean task of painting SJP as the underdog in this episode.  Plus: Amelia’s international phone crisis, Evan’s constant mental preparation for hypothetical arguments, and Casey’s big-picture analysis of Alix Earle never having read a book.  Follow @caseylewis and subscribe to her incredible newsletter After School to keep your finger on the pulse.  Join for free at rakuten.com or download the Rakuten app to start saving money today. WE DID IT!! Our voices actually matter and manifestation works: we’re getting a Girls Revival. We imagine what will happen in these five precious episodes, theorize on what our girls have been up to since the finale, and ask some important questions like: Who’s gay now? Is it Loreen?  Will Jezebel come back to spite Lena? What could be the event that brings them all back together, and why is it Adam Sackler dying on a Peloton? How great would it be for Aubrey Plaza to play goth Marnie Michaels in a dream sequence?  Then, we react to your predictions and imagine our dream cameo situation.  Use code GIRLSREWATCH at jonesroadbeauty.com to get a Free Gift with your first purchase! #JonesRoadBeauty #ad Join for free at rakuten.com or download the Rakuten app to start saving money today. We chat sex as competition, Jon Gosling’s buttery effect on RHONY, Carrie’s sex-negative nature as a sex columnist, and getting horny over losing money.  Plus: Liza goes through hell and back to raise money for Puerto Rico at a SATC trivia night, Amelia owns 2 seasons of Jon & Kate Plus 8 on DVD, and Evan does immaculate suit work. Comedian and genius behind Chanty Beluga Courtney O’Donnell helps us kick of season 3 of SATC with S3E1, “Where There’s Smoke…”  Our Manhattan gals take the ferry to Staten Island for the New York Fire Department’s male calendar competition and shudder at the idea that all women might want to be saved.  Samantha makes her firehouse fantasy happen with the biggest himbo on the crew, Carrie catches the eye of the politician with the fact that she’s never voted, Charlotte dates a blonde puncher, and Miranda has the perfect plot of eye surgery.  We chat the pyramid scheme of Hoboken, Carrie as the center of the friendship polycule, hyper-independence as a trauma response, and the eternal nature of the local celebrity.  Plus: Courtney chatting brand deals til 5am with no kiss, Evan turns violent at brunch, and Amelia reads men who view women as property.  For the love of all things good, check out Planet Courtney the next time she’s in your city! We have finally returned to this island we call home just in time to talk SATC S2E18, “Ex and the City” and answer the question: can we be friends with our exes? Samantha makes her first guy friend because his dick is too big to conquer, Miranda runs away from Steve on the street and subsequently becomes the original friends with benefits, Charlotte is a horse fucker and tries to heal her heart and collar bone, and Carrie lunches with Big only to learn he’s engaged to Natasha.  We talk Carrie feigning maturity re: Natasha, how meet cutes now are just anything but Hinge, the horrifying remedy to lockjaw, and how we need to involve more physicality when avoiding our problems.  Plus: women’s incredible ability to listen to the same story 11 times, Amelia cosplaying as type-B, and Evan reminding us this is a space for environmentalism.  Learn more about your ad choices. Singer and guest with the most Carrie-Bradshaw-esque hair XKYLAR rounds out our LA journey chatting SATC S2E17, “Twenty-Something Girls vs. Thirty-Something Women.” Our ladies inherit a haunted Hamptons summer share and try to answer the question: is a woman 10 years younger than you your enemy? Samantha feels upstaged by her rolodex-stealing Kelly Cutrone assistant, Charlotte lies about her age and suffers the karmic consequence of crabs, Carrie mentors a try-hard virgin, and Big shows up at the Hamptons Hoedown with 26-year-old Natasha. Gasp! We talk the binary of PR girls, breaking HIPAA, why you should never be chill around someone you admire, and the parallels of Big/ Natasha/ Carrie and Jack/ Lena/ Margaret (and Lorde.)  Plus: Amelia is Laurel Harris, Evan’s daughter Jitney is going to make a splash on Love Island, and XKYLAR’s quiet slut top.  Listen to WHY IS NOBODY DANCING? out now!  Learn more about your ad choices. Stand-up comedian and host of Juicy Scoop podcast Heather McDonald is with us to talk all things incredible and disgusting in SATC S2E16, “Was It Good for You?” The ladies are contemplating if they’re good in bed. Carrie dates a recovering alcoholic who gets addicted to dicking her down, Charlotte spins out when a guy falls asleep inside her, Samantha is rejected by two gay guys, and Miranda is on a journey with her salmon bed sheets. We chat how Heather blames herself for the end of And Just Like That, that SATC is basically The Simpsons in predicting everyone will be pansexual, the rapey men of Heather’s generation and why it’s good to give out your number to a guy at the bar, and Charlotte’s tantric kindling-style handjob. Plus, Heather knew the original Samatha, life-altering dating advice for Amelia, and Evan’s possible foray into dating a butch lesbian.  Go to https://kachava.com and use code GIRLSREWATCH for 15% off your first order. Actress, comedian, and noted tall girl Hannah Pilkes (Netflix’s Leanne) has no shortage of opinions on SATC S2E15, “Shortcomings.” It’s family week in New York! Miranda dates a used father she met at the gym, Charlotte’s recently divorced brother visits and Samantha reliably hooks up with him, and Carrie puts up with Justin Theroux finishing way too early to spend time with his hot family in their hot home. We chat about the deeply empowering experience of pressing an elevator button, brainstorm how a naked Miranda could have better handled maiming a child, and wonder if it’s cool to hook up with your bestie’s siblings. Plus, basketball basketball lesbians, shots are sacrilegious, and the thrill of your SO’s parents inviting you on the ski trip. It’s just us girls this week to discuss breaking dating patterns, if we always date the same guy, and SATC S2E14, “The F*ck Buddy” Carrie goes back to her vice, the literal Allstate Mayhem Man, Miranda is addicted to angry men, Samantha considers moving her solo play across the hall, and the ladies rip Charlotte a new one for her habit of anticipating the perfect man. We worry for Inside Out’s Riley, talk the state of froyo in New York, decide which is the girliest of the five senses, and realize the common human experience is hearing your roommates have sex and doing nothing about it. Plus, a re-enactment of how Skipper’s agent delivered the good news he’s back on the show, Carrie’s smallpox poncho, and how the best way to move furniture is when you’re emotionally dysregulated.  Use code GIRLSREWATCH at jonesroadbeauty.com to get a Free Gift with your first purchase! #JonesRoadBeauty #ad Learn more about your ad choices. Comedian and inner peace expert Zach Noe Towers joins us for some fun as we discuss SATC S2E13, “Games People Play.” The ladies beg therapy-denier Carrie to get professional help after her Big Breakup, Miranda plays peek-a-boo with her cruising neighbor, Samantha goes sports mode and dates a Knicks fan, and Charlotte doesn’t really have a story this week.  We ponder if you have to play games for a relationship to work, reflect on how Samantha would have been pounded to smithereens this summer, realize how the best case-scenario for marriage is divorce (and the worst is murder,)  and wish we could body-swap with our friends during their break-ups. Plus, Evan crushes the Ella Emhoff Oura ring story, Zach is ready for a brain chip, and Amelia’s journey with EMDR.  Check out Zach’s special Twink Death on YouTube right now!  Download the Vinted app for free and start listing!
