Sascha Altman DuBrul is a writer and mental health coach who came of age in the New York punk rock scene of the late ’80s and early ’90s. In this conversation, he speaks with Kendra and Rich about his time in psychiatric hospitals and how those experiences led him to co-found The Icarus Project, a peer-based online mental health resource. They also discuss the concept of centered accountability, as well as Kendra and Sascha’s shared experiences while working toward their Master’s in Social Work, among other topics.
Sascha is the co-founder of The Icarus Project, and author of Maps to the Other Side and the forthcoming Dangerous Gifts. He is co-creator of T-MAPs (Transformative Mutual Aid Practices). Sascha's work bridges lived experience, peer support, and movement strategy to reimagine mental health beyond diagnosis.
