It was David’s 51st Birthday recently, so Joe kicks things off by finding out what he got up to and what presents he was given. It turns out that one gift was a shirt, which was a little too ‘Woodcuttery’ for David’s liking. So the chat soon turns to buying clothes, for both themselves and their other halves, which all gets a little heated. They also talk about discomfort when rummaging in clothes shops, being bad at small-talk, David looking into moving again and some listener feedback on the MMU’s. Joe’s just completed his most recent Mystery Meet Up, which was an evening of Go-Kart racing. So David digs in to find out what Joe thought of it and how well he performed on the track. It turns out it was a great success - but that doesn’t stop David from pulling Joe’s leg about it, a lot. David’s realised he takes on a strange persona whenever he’s in a DIY shop or garden centre, which is something his wife Naomi picked up on recently when they were at their local B&Q. He thinks it might be connected to his old job as a gardener and what little knowledge from that time he’s managed to retain. Suffice to say, he really doesn’t like who he becomes in these situations - but it’s something that Joe very much enjoys hearing about on today’s pod. Joe’s convinced he’s already told David about his 50th birthday trip to Paris - but David’s not sure he’s heard the whole story and definitely wants more of the details. So somewhat reluctantly, Joe recounts his and Petra’s four day holiday, in as much depth as possible. But he soon gets distracted by a new pair of trousers he now regrets buying and then a growing disappointment that he’s not more dynamic when planning and being on holidays. As you might expect, a fair amount of unravelling then ensues and there's a load more angst about turning 50 too.
