1001 had the rare opportunity to speak face to face (on Skype) with physicist, lecturer, and professional UFOlogist Stanton Terry Friedman last year and at that time he shared his knowledge of UFO's as well as his ties to the story known as The Braxton County Monster. This episode is offered here in his honor, as we lost him this pat May 13th. He will be sorely missed in the UFO believers community. He was the first civilian to investigate the Roswell incident and he worked a number of top secret projects for the US government concerning nuclear (and other) types of propulsion. Their orders are to use deadly silent force to break Japanese resistance, and they have been trained in killing techniques that few people are aware of. For 17 days of brutal fighting on Saipan they did their jobs, and paid for it, The son of the company commander, Joe Tachovsky, had never been told what his father did on Tinian and Saipan- he was to find out after his father's death. This is the incredible story of this decorated marine unit and the men who were called The 40 Thieves. Tales of the Texas Rangers, a western adventure old-time radio drama, premiered on July 8, 1950, on the US NBC radio network and remained on the air through September 14, 1952. Movie star Joel McCrea starred as Texas Ranger Jayce Pearson, who used the latest scientific techniques to identify the criminals and his faithful horse, Charcoal, to track them down. Sixteen B‑25s launched from the Hornet knowing they lacked the fuel to make it back. Their strike on Tokyo was the first successful attack on the Japanese mainland in over a thousand years — a feat that electrified the American public and rattled Japanese leadership. 3. The Fate of the Raiders Jon and Michael discuss the harrowing aftermath: 69 airmen escaped capture, including Doolittle himself. Eight were captured, tortured, and held in secret prisons. Three — Farrow, Hallmark, and Spatz — were executed by the Japanese for "war crimes." These events, largely forgotten today, form the emotional core of Paradis's narrative. 4. The Postwar Trial: Justice on the World Stage The book's second half — and much of Jon's conversation with Paradis — focuses on the extraordinary 1945 trial in which both the United States and Japan accused each other of war crimes. He achieved three confirmed aerial victories, making him one of the few African American fighter aces in U.S. history.
