Arizona Eagle uncovers deeper shaft, advances McCabe gold redevelopment strategy

Arizona Eagle Mining Corp CEO Kevin Reid joined Steve Darling from Proactive to provide an update on the company’s McCabe high-grade gold and silver project in Arizona, highlighting what he believes could be a transformational opportunity built around an extensive historic mining operation with significant existing infrastructure. Reid explained that the McCabe Mine was previously operated until the early 1990s, when mining giant BHP shut down operations during a period when gold prices were hovering around US$300 per ounce. The property subsequently remained in private hands for nearly four decades before Arizona Eagle acquired the asset and began assembling a much larger district-scale land package around it. Today, the company controls nearly 5,000 acres in the region, including more than 400 acres of patented private land that hosts 11 historic producing gold and silver mines, along with over 4,000 acres of surrounding Bureau of Land Management claims. Reid believes this consolidated land position provides substantial exploration and development potential beyond the original McCabe Mine footprint. One of the most significant discoveries made since acquiring the project came during a recent underground assessment. Using a submersible camera system, Arizona Eagle determined that the mine’s concrete-lined production shaft extends significantly deeper than previously documented. Historical records indicated a depth of approximately 1,450 feet, but the company confirmed the shaft actually reaches roughly 1,650 feet. According to Reid, this finding further enhances the value of the project’s existing infrastructure, which includes a 15-foot-wide production shaft, approximately five kilometres of underground workings and a ventilation raise located roughly 1,000 feet from the main shaft. He estimates the replacement cost of this infrastructure alone could exceed US$50 million in today’s market. Following its public listing, Arizona Eagle completed a seven-hole Phase 1 surface drilling program that generated encouraging results and led to what Reid described as several new discoveries. However, he noted that the extensive underground workings present challenges for surface drilling, including the potential to lose drill holes into historic mine voids. As a result, the company’s strategic focus has shifted toward evaluating the feasibility of regaining underground access. Reid believes that drilling from underground stations could dramatically improve efficiency, reducing drilling costs to approximately one-tenth of comparable surface programs while allowing the company to complete 50 to 70 drill holes during a single campaign instead of the seven holes completed in the initial surface program. The project also benefits from what Reid describes as a highly favourable permitting environment. The core assets are situated on patented private land adjacent to a paved highway, eliminating many of the surface-disturbance challenges often associated with exploration projects on federal lands. The property has access to water, faces no known species or Indigenous land-use constraints on its primary development areas, and is located just 45 minutes from Prescott, Arizona, providing access to skilled labour and infrastructure.
