Part 1:
We talk with Jonathan Feingold, New Republic staff writer and author of The Great Divergence: Americas Growing Inequality Crisis and What We Can Do About It.
We discuss how Trump has been using no-bid contracts to aim money at his supporters. The work is being arranged for 'improvements' to government properties, often shoddy and very expensive.
Part 2:
We talk with Jonathan Feingold, Prof. of Law at Boston University.
Jon & Arnie discuss the rising repression at Texas universities. The Texas state legislature, with help from handpicked rightwing administrators, is systematically undoing the decades of work that led to world class higher education in the state. AtTexas A&M University, administrators are scanning syllabi to purge content about race and gender. AtThe University of Texas at Austin, Jim Davis (President) and William Inboden (Provost) are overruling their own departments to strip tenure from faculty whose work they dislike. At Texas Tech, you're not allowed to use the word "systemic." This isn't the end of the story. Folks on the ground are pushing back to defend their own institutions from unapologetic bigotry and internal sabotage.
