The Idea Sex Method: How to Never Run Out of Ideas | Alan Frei Solo Podcast
I have a running list on my phone with over 200 ideas, most of them bad, some of them embarrassing, and a few that turned into real businesses. In this solo episode, I share the exact system behind that list: a method called "Idea Sex," a concept popularized by entrepreneur James Altucher, where old ideas collide with new context to create something better.
We discuss why the best way to have a good idea is simply to have lots of ideas, why finding great ideas works like training a muscle, and why most people fail at this before they even start: they simply stop writing ideas down. I walk through my exact 5-step process: keeping a running idea list, writing down everything no matter how weird or unrealistic, revisiting old ideas every 2-3 months to let them evolve, refining until an idea genuinely excites you, and finally testing it by discussing it with others to create even more "Idea Sex." I also share two ideas straight from my current list, including a high-protein, sugar-free cheesecake and a longevity food delivery concept.
This episode is part of Alan's short-form solo series, where he distills practical lessons from entrepreneurship, leadership, marketing, and personal branding into quick, actionable 10-minute episodes you can apply immediately.
