Not at all! In fact, he is probably one of very few that have gone from maintaining horse racecourses over to maintaining golf courses. Yes, from the outset, and unbeknownst to me, Brenden's greenkeeping career is rather different to most I've had the pleasure of chatting with on the podcast in the past. And from that difference comes many different rabbit holes. We also get to learn about the Manly golf course and what makes it such a unique and interesting site to maintain on top of being a highly regarded and historic golf course.Our conversation also takes in topics such as leadership, people management, team culture, professional development, personal growth, and the often less discussed topic of mental health. Jimmy also gives us a full wrap up of what's going on around other NT courses including Darwin GC, The Gardens, Katherine, and Jabiru. It's been a rather tough wet season to say the least!The biggest news coming out these past couple of weeks has been Peninsula Kingswood Country Golf Club being announced as host of the 2027 men's Australian Open. I give you a full run down of what we know and what we're still yet to learn about this magnificent golf facility. There's also more news coming from Tasmania GC and Fairbairn GC in ACT is looking for help to keep their golf course land being taken away. The golf course at Karratha is a local public community asset that not so long ago was upgraded from sand putting greens to grass greens which Callum was heavily involved with. The course also went through a redesign at the same time.Prior to his current position, Callum leaned his trade at Busselton Golf Club. After completing his time at Busselton, Callum was soon taking the controls leading the team at Busselton as superintendent where he was able to improve the course over a number of years. Mother Nature swings a full 180 from day 1, with showers and cold weather coming in. This significantly changes the earlier reserved directives from tournament officials and the shackles come off the greenkeeping staff.
