Finding a career that keeps you involved in the sport you love is the dream for most racers when they retire, but even that can be a challenge. Jared Hicks was a Supercross privateer who teamed up with German privateer Philipp Klakow to start a custom graphics company to support their racing habit, way back in 2011. These days, Backyard Design USA has grown exponentially, and Hicks and Klakow are working full-time to grow their company from both sides of the globe. Hicks is also one of Dirt Bike Magazine's staple test riders, so he still gets to spend plenty of time in the saddle of a motocross bike. Jared joins us on this week's 6D Helmets Midweek Podcast for a super-enjoyable chat!

Shane McElrath, meanwhile, dominated the final stop with a complete sweep of the racing, but ot wasn't enough to keep Max Anstie from stripping him of his number-one plate. Presented by 6D Helmets Jerry Robin has long been a fixture on the pro motocross and Supercross circuit, as one of the sport's most prominent privateer racers. His life took a drastic turn on April 19th, though, when he crashed during practice at the East Rutherford Supercross and suffered paralyzing injuries. Through it all, Robin has approached his recovery, therapy, and new life path with the same intensity that brought him success on the racetrack, and only eight months post-injury, he seems to have his new life pretty well figured out. Last week, Robin started a job with his sponsor, FXR Racing, the Canadian MX apparel brand that has made huge strides in American motocross. We caught up with Jerry this afternoon for a super enjoyable conversation.

It was a successful weekend for the KTM Group, as Eli Tomac made a winning debut aboard his new Red Bull KTM in Canada, and Malcolm Stewart used his Rockstar Husqvarna to earn the King of Paris Crown in France! We were on hand in Vancouver for the second round of the FIM WSX World Championship Supercross Series, and getting to see Tomac compete on his KTM 450 SX-F for the first time was really something.
