Americans are no longer able to import cheap foreign goods tariff-free. The Trump administration ended the de minimis exemption, which allowed packages valued under $800 to enter the U.S. with no import tax. Last year, there were nearly four million such packages a day. Three European countries that were part of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal launched a process to reimpose sanctions that were lifted a decade ago as part of the agreement. France, Germany and the United Kingdom accused Iran of breaking its commitments, starting a 30-day clock that could end with Iran’s economy further squeezed, arms deals halted and foreign assets frozen. Ukraine said that more than 100,000 people were without power after Russia launched a massive attack on the country's energy infrastructure. Ukraine has also been targeting Russia's oil and gas facilities, spiking fuel costs and requiring the country to ration gas.
