Elspeth Beard has become a household name in the motorcycle world, but it hasn’t always been that way. Back in 1982 she headed off on her around the world motorcycle journey, returning home years later and resuming her life in England as an architect and then a mother. It wasn’t until 2017, when her book came out, that the world would come to know Elspeth for her motorcycle journey. We were fortunate to interview her in early 2017 before the book’s release, and then again in 2018 after she had become the legend we know of her today. The Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials will be Aug 23rd to 27th this year, and we will be there. Back in 2019 we had the opportunity to interview Erin Sills about her experience setting records on the salt. She has set 45 land speed records, has multiple Guinness World Records, and her BMW S1000RR is currently on display in the Smithsonian. She brought along her Hunter Sill Racing teammate Trev Richter, who is also chasing records on the salt, and they both have some amazing stories to share. We’ve paired this interview with another from 2019, this time with Stacie B. London of Triple Nickle Racing. Stacie has also set a record, but not quite as fast as Erin. She races on a 1967 Harley Davidson Aermacchi, which is why Bonneville is so great. You can take any bike from any era, and if you can make it go faster than the last person in the same category, you can set a record too. Dipping into the archives for another one of our favorites, and this is a big one. Back in 2018 we got to sit down with the legendary Wayne Rainey. Wayne is a legend in motorcycling (no really, the AMA awarded him that title) with 3 world championships under his belt. He also happens to be the president of the MotoAmerica racing series, despite the fact that he had a career ending crash in 93 that left him in a wheelchair. But that hasn't slowed him down. His post crash life included racing karts and owning his own race team. We dive into the current state of American racing, as well as getting to know a bit about his history, as well as what it takes to get a curve at Laguna Seca named after oneself.
