On this day in history, July the 2nd, 1776, the Second Continental Congress actually – and it was truly a miracle! – UNANIMOUSLY passed Richard Henry Lee of Virginia’s Resolution for Independence. It was on July 4th, two days later, that the same Congressional Congress passed the “unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America.” And the Rest is History – even if too many Americans fail to know it. Parsha ‘Chukat’ (Numbers chapters 19 through 21) is mostly about the most enigmatic ‘chuk’ in Scripture – the Red Heiffer. But there’s another in here as well, also about things that are red, and a bit confusing as well.
