And unfortunately not a big fan Arc Raiders either. Both of these games just don't do it for me.Old School RunescapeFor the first time in 25 years Runescape is getting a new skill to level. Pretty huge news for an ancient and still incredibly popular MMO. Just goes to show you, you don't need all the gimmicks modern games have to have longevity.MacabreA new extraction game that really seems to be blazing its own trail. Good Morning CoinDroppersNEXT EPISODE 30 OCTOBER Halloween SpecialToday We're talking about some industry news as well as a game we Mike and I commented on when it was debuted at the THQ Nordic Showcase earlier this year.Xbox GamepassEven though Xbox just hiked the price of gamepass from $16.99 to $19.99 last year they announced ANOTHER price hike this year to $29.99 and nobody liked that. In fact it was so universally hated that Gamepass' cancelation site crashed from all the people canceling their subscriptions.EA BuyoutEA is going private after a 55 Billion Dollar buy out by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, Silver Lake, and the Affinity Partners. This move could be good and it could be bad. Only time will tell but what we do know is that EA is going to be carrying a lot of debt for quiet a while as a result of the buyout.Tides of TomorrowMike and I talked about the announcement of this game during our coverage of the THQ Nordic showcase. Well they just dropped a demo and I must say it's a rather enjoyable experience. Good Morning Coindroppers!Today Chris is back with us as we discuss a new Extraction like game that has thrown it's hat into the already over crowded arena. With Steel Hunters sunsetting in less that 6 months after launch, and Dungeonborne within it's first year it's a mystery to me as to why people are STILL making extractions.Mistfall HunterLaunching into early access sometime later this year Mistfall Hunter is the latest dungeon crawling extraction PvPvE game and honestly we've got some concerns about it's staying power. The game as it sits is in a good spot and preformed well in the playtest but strangely the question in this case isn't whether it's good or not. It's if the game will survive it's first year up against an already slam packed genre of games.PlayStation State of PlayPlayStation's latest state of play gave us a glimpse of Saros as well as the first real footage of Insomniac's Wolverine. Both games look amazing in their own right but Insomniac appears to truly be living up to our expectations with the Wolverine. If the game delivers on the promise put forth in the trailer I genuinely think this will be the best Wolverine game ever. I hope you're all having a great week and you're ready to hear about some awesome games because we've brought the content (despite the slow news week)DuskPunkA new "tabletop" RPG from what I believe is a solo developer. I was contacted by their PR and asked if I wanted to check out their demo ahead of release. Being a sucker for a good story and awesome art I figured I'd give it a go. What I was not expecting was the absolutely enthralling story and sound design that made me forget the visuals in this game are very minimal. I'm floored by how enjoyable this experience was and I highly recommend checking out their demo if you're a fan of steampunk, RPGs, and WWII aesthetic.HyperfunkThis may not be a game for everyone but it is a game for anyone who played Jet Set Radio or Jet Set Radio Future on the Xbox back in the day. Team Reptile's next game looks like the next step in the JSRF and Bombrush Hyperfunk style and boy I could not be more stoked. All of it free all the time always. A decade later and No Man Sky still continues to get better. The new update adds Zero G gameplay, buildable ships, and being able to crew those custom built ships with your friends in a multiplayer setting. Cannot wait to see what Hello Games adds next because I'm sure they STILL aren't done with this game.A New Left4Dead from Mike BoothThe Lead designer behind Left4Dead 1 and 2 has moved to a new studio called Bad Robot Games which is comprised of members from Cloverfield, Lost, and Westworld. Good Morning CoinDroppers!I'm happy to announce that I met my goal and managed to crank this bad boy out! It was a LOT of work and a lot of long nights grinding away at the computer to edit. Just a warning, the audio quality is NOT the best. We did what we could in post but we were trying to capture the voices of three people on one very directional microphone. I hope it's at least passable. I'll be investing in a secondary mic for PAX next year that will hopefully capture more clear audio in this situation in the future. Let's get into the content!Jurassic Park SurviveFunny enough, I briefly talked about how I hoped Ferocious would hold me over till Jurassic Park Survive dropped, well Saber put out a development update this week because this particular project wont be at Gamescom. They announced the depth the team is going to to make sure the game is exactly what we hope for and told us that everyone on the team has a deep seeded passion for Jurassic Park. Personally I think the project looks amazing so far and I'm chomping at the bit to get my hands on it. Moon Beast Productions New Untitled ARPGThis one is so new the team hasn't even released any real footage. Some big name Youtubers in the ARPG world broke this one and the footage I found was from Rhykker a ARPG fan I've followed for years. Moon Beast is comprised of some key members from the Diablo and Diablo 2 team and their new ARPG has me interested but skeptical. They're moving very far from established trends in ARPGs and I'm interested in seeing how that ends up playing out. This footage is very VERY early in development so take everything with a grain of salt and expect changes.The LightkeeperA new horror game from developer DarkPhobia Games that looks oddly exactly like what I was talking about last week with The Lighthouse. In fact this game seems to take direct inspiration either from the film or the true story of the men who disappeared. There's a free demo on their steam page if you want to check it out for yourself.Norse Oath of BloodOur second Indie title is a new game from a developer based in Norway. Norse Oath of Blood is a turn based RPG title that looks to play a lot like Baldur's Gate but is historically based. Play as the son of a murdered Jarl and take vengeance against your slain father in this narrative story rich RPG. I'm sold.Will: Follow the LightA realistic, single-player, first person journey across the harsh Northern Sea. Will: Follow the light appears to be a gripping narrative about a lighthouse keeper who finds out his son has vanished and sets sail to find him. It seems to be a single player game that connects to the net and changes its stories based on the choices your friends made when they played. That said, it does raise some concerns because it's another small indie team of roughly 10 people making a game inspired by the best FPS RPG ever. That said THQ has thrown money behind this game so I'm a little more optimistic about this game.Where Winds MeetA new game from a China based dev team that seems to be a single player / co-optional / mmo that's going to be free to play and boasts over 150 hrs of content.
