The current so-called ‘civil war’ in Sudan began in April 2023. It has had almost no coverage in any mainstream news. Deaths and injuries as a result of the conflict are estimated to be in the tens of thousands, with a general acceptance that the estimates are likely to be well below reality. In addition, nearly 25 million people are experiencing extreme hunger there.Mike Robinson speaks to Professor Isa Blumi about the Sudan conflict and its place in the wider region.
