#328 Dead Woman Walking: Christa Pike

Christa Gail Pike is a convicted murderer who is incarcerated on death row in Tennessee. In 1995, when she was 18, Pike murdered 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer in Knoxville. Pike and two friends led Slemmer into the woods, where they tortured and killed her. In 1996 at just 20 years old, Pike was sentenced to death, making her one of the youngest women to be sentenced to death in the United States. She is scheduled to be executed on September 30, 2026. If carried out, she will be the 19th woman executed nationwide since 1976 and the first woman executed in Tennessee in over 200 years. Pike's sentence remains controversial, arguing her legal defense failed to present mitigating evidence at trial, including the effect of her youth and childhood trauma on her decision-making abilities and mental health. On June 30, 2026, around noon, the police received a 911 call reporting a shooting in the parking lot of the Walmart in North Lauderdale, Florida. When officers arrived, they found Bart DiGuglielmo in the parking lot suffering from a single gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was taken to a hospital where he later died. The shooter was a woman named Melissa Payne, who told the police that Bart had threatened her. Then for our double feature we talk about a young woman named Hannah Payne, who decided to enact her own vigilante justice when 62 year old Kenneth Herring tried to flee a traffic accident. We kick things off talking about the Tupac Murder trial and the inevitable conviction of Keefe D, I mean, com'on, the dude's been bragging about it for years. Then we cover an absolute tragedy when a miniature donkey is shot down by a police officer in its OWN YARD! Then we take a dark turn with a story that focuses on a man that has been stalking his ex for 13 YEARS! Yikes! When police finally caught onto him and searched his property it was full of oddities, including human body parts and remains, like a piece of John Wayne Gacy's brain! (How'd he even get that). Then we round out the episode with a good ole Beer Heist. A PBR truck was robbed and the company may be willing to do some shady things to ensure its return....or maybe we're reading into it too much. It's been nearly 20 years since Curtis Severns was sentenced to 27 years in federal prison. Convicted of intentionally starting the fire in his gun shop, he would have 7 years left on his sentence, had he not been released early. Severns has maintained his innocence all along. As in many arson cases, he was convicted almost exclusively by the testimony of fire investigators who relied on assumptions that some of the leading arson experts in the country now say are false. In fact, new evidence reveals that Severns did time for a crime he probably didn’t commit. Jason Steiner is working the night shift at a Portland Cannabis dispensary when three armed men in masks come through the door, pointing guns at him, asking for the cash.  He pleads for them to let him go, and they actually do. So he grabs his bag and heads outside. But instead of leaving the scene, he decides he needs to take action, so he reaches into his bag and pulls out a handgun and makes a very rash decision. Around 4 a.m. on November, 13th 2022, a man in dark clothing and a ski mask entered a house in Moscow, Idaho, where six University of Idaho students lived off campus. Going from room to room, the killer stabbed four of the students before sneaking out the back door. There were two survivors, one of them saw the man as he left. In the 4 years since the crime, prosecutors have not been able to prove a motive but have presented pretty damning evidence against the man eventually charged with the crime: Bryan Kohberger, who happened to be a criminology student, and Teacher Aid at a nearby university. Now the subject of a Netflix Documentary, the case is back in the light and some people believe Kohberger had help, or is innocent altogether!   Check out Patreon and our other shows!: Patreon.com/truecrimeguys Cryptic Soup w/ Thena & Kylee Strange & Unexplained True Crime Guys YouTube EVERYTHING TRUE CRIME GUYS:   https://linktr.ee/Truecrimeguysproductions True Crime Guys Music: True Crime Guys Music on Spotify OhMyGaia.com Code: Crimepine Patreon.com/truecrimeguys Patreon.com/sandupodcast Merch: truecrimeguys.threadless.com   Sources: https://www.facebook.com/courttv/videos/newly-released-bodycam-shows-the-chilling-moment-officers-first-entered-the-home/788026707056417/ https://www.cbsnews.com/news/idaho-student-murders-bryan-kohberger-arrest-timeline/?intcid=CNM-00-10abd1h https://www.reddit.com/r/MoscowMurders/ https://www.nytimes.com/article/idaho-student-murders-kohberger.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jk69XamLKD4 All New Evidence in Bryan Kohberger's Idaho Murders "Liminal" Dark Ambient Music 2025 Deep Soundscape - No Copyright Free Music [FREE FOR PROFIT] Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company.
