Thomas Bay, Alaska — a remote stretch of wilderness once feared by prospectors, avoided by Indigenous communities, and whispered about as “Devil’s Country” or “The Bay of Death.” In the early 1900s, a prospector returned from this isolated region with a disturbing warning.
