In our new sub-series, The Scene will be chatting to various folks in the know about all things New Writing, audio, theatre, distribution, Production..... to see what we can learn from people who've been doing it all much longer than us.

In the FIRST of this interview series, Julia Sowerbutt tells us all about her experience of running one of the UK's largest New Writing events - INK Festival, which takes place each year in Suffolk. Poetry, comedy, workshops, talks - ALSO make up the bill, "..we've been described as a mini Edinburgh!"

We chat about how she got 'here', the challenges and rewards, and why it's important to continue providing space for creatives to practice their craft.

You can  find out more about INK Festival here, and if you are a writer - at ANY stage of your journey -  the window for submitting your work for next year's INK Festival (2025) is opening up in June, so keep an eye on the website and get those biros sharpened.
