In this episode, Emma talks to Angela Crawley MP. Angela is an MP for Lanark and Hamilton East, a Scottish National Party politician and has served as the SNP Shadow Attorney General since 2021. Angela is taking a Private Members Bill to the UK Parliament on 3 December 2021 calling on the UK government to entitle parents who have suffered the loss of a baby up to 24 weeks at least three days of paid miscarriage leave (currently parents are only entitled to paid leave losing a baby after 24 weeks).   Angela talks about the Bill and why it’s so important to offer this support to parents who have lost a baby at any stage of pregnancy. Miscarriage isn’t an illness - it’s grief and you need to allow yourself time to grieve, without financial penalty. Angela also talks to other topics that she hopes this Bill will start a conversation on for women, including the gender pay gap.
