In October 2024, attorney Tony Buzbee initiated a high-profile media campaign to publicize a series of civil lawsuits against Sean "Diddy" Combs, alleging sexual assault, exploitation, and abuse. Representing over 100 plaintiffs—including 25 minors—Buzbee held press conferences detailing the alleged misconduct, which purportedly occurred at various events such as private parties and auditions over a span of three decades. He claimed that many victims were drugged, with substances like xylazine, and that some incidents took place at well-known venues. Buzbee emphasized that the lawsuits aimed to expose not only Combs but also other high-profile individuals and entities that allegedly enabled or participated in the misconduct.

The media blitz led to a significant public response, with Buzbee reporting that thousands of individuals reached out with similar allegations. He suggested that the number of potential cases could reach up to 300, involving both male and female victims. In December 2024, Buzbee filed a lawsuit implicating Jay-Z in a 2000 incident involving the alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl, which Jay-Z vehemently denied, labeling the accusation as extortion. This legal confrontation escalated when Jay-Z filed a defamation and civil extortion lawsuit against Buzbee and his client. Despite facing criticism and legal challenges, Buzbee maintained that his actions were in pursuit of justice for the victims and aimed at holding powerful figures accountable.
