This is an effort to combat the poor user experience that’s been driving searchers away to competitors such as ChatGPT or UGC solutions. Searchers hated this too, it’s one of the most complained about things with Google Search. Spammy SEOs would maximize time on page by obscuring answers and hiding them way down on the page, below a ton of fluff.
