EDITORIAL: "Local Requiem" (The End of WWOR-TV & the beginning of FOX 5+ in New York)

Today, we celebrate the 75th Anniversary of "I Love Lucy" by celebrating (I guess?) the 40th anniversary of Lucille Ball's TV Swan Song...If by "Swan Song", you mean the sound it makes as it's liver is being turned into Pâté. WWOR-TV, we hardly Knew 'Ye...then again, that might've Already happened 25+ years before you Officially became a FOX clone. What do YOU think (and also, if you hail from the NYC area, what are YOUR Memories of Channel 9)? Yes, we admit it, our next show is gonna be late (But don't worry, "Life With Lucy" WILL Happen Next week). To make it up to you, we kill time by "Reading the Phonebook" of TV Knowledge; as we look at a list TV Guide put out over 30 years ago and see if any of it holds up. BONUS: If you can make it through the whole thing, we will tell you about the rest of the shows we're doing this Calendar Year (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas)

I'm too tired to type up anything witty; we sat through the Emmys, we recapped it, we had to hear Captian Benson Sing; and here now is the result of sacrificing my sleep cycle!

IN THIS UPDATE: *My Health *The Emmys *Life With Lucy *Telehell-O-Ween *A NEW Telehell Game Show (Coming Soon)

SPECIAL: I work a Hard 1-show-per Month; I think it's time that I took a break from things (HOLD FOR SARCASTIC EYE ROLL). So today, we're going to go on a Road Trip to see as much of The USA as we possibly can in under 2 hours by looking at moments when LOCAL TV failed just as much as Network TV did; Here's the Road Map: 0:00 - Intro 7:00 - The REAL WKRP-FM (and is the TV Show the ONLY Successful TV show about Radio?) 27:58 - Rax Restaurants & "Mr. Delicious" 46:48 - AFTER THE BREAK 48:36 - The 2013 Detroit "Bowling for Dollars" Scam 67:49 - KIRO Seattle's "News Out The Box" (1993) 89:16 - Dateline NBC's "Waiting To Explode" Fraud (1992) SPONSORED BY: Dave's Archives StudioThreeTV Kier's Nostalgia Corner Kev The Ripper And (as always) Our Patrons NOTE: We DID Advertise new Bonus shows on our Patreon; but I'm in the middle of a (Unexpectedly Complicated) Move to a new place. But we WILL Post them NEXT WEEK (8/13 & 14) On our Patreon.

For years, this 1985 TV Movie was considered one of the Holy Grails of Lost Media; two years after it's been found, me and an outer-worldly visitor (SPECIAL GUEST: Kevin "Kev The Ripper" Noble) use the movie to--hopefully--reignite the fires of Hell...and also see if Gary Coleman should've fired his agent after this. As much as "The Bear" deserves all its accolades, does it deserve it in the Wrong category? What do YOU think? Comment on our Socials @ TelehellPodcast or, if you wish to make an audio reply; send a 2 minute mp3 or m4a clip to [email protected]

If I Left out ANYBODY here in my thoughts on this country at 250, cut me a little slack...I only had 250 words to use (and we apologize). What do YOU think? Comment on our Socials @ TelehellPodcast or, if you wish to make an audio reply; send a 2 minute mp3 or m4a clip to [email protected]

PREVIEW: Well, This moment HAD to happen at some point; but as it turns out, our Next Episode is SO Large in size/scope that we completely forgot to write the segment that sets up the thing we'll be reviewing (and there was no space in the episode to put it in seemlessly). So to pre-emptively get that out of the way, here's a short primer on what we'll be reviewing IN 2 WEEKS with a Special guest...
