Cara McKee (pictured) became an MSP in May – one of the new Scottish Greens to be elected to Holyrood. For decades she has experienced chronic pain - but for a very long time the cause remained a mystery.

She tells Laura Miller about how long it took to get a diagnosis for trigeminal neuralgia, and what it’s like to recover from brain surgery.
