Nesa Azadikhah is a Tehran-born, Paris-based DJ, producer and musician. She is best known for her work as the founder of Deep House Tehran, a platform that highlights electronic music scenes in her country. Nesa has been playing traditional percussion instruments (tonbak, daf) since the age of six. She started mixing and producing in her teens. Over the years, she established herself as one of the pillars of the Tehran music scene before relocating to Tbilisi and then Paris. In 2022, she teamed up with AIDA (a DJ and producer based in San Francisco) to launch Apranik record label in the midst of the Woman Life Freedom revolution. She also founded Makhunik Records. Mary Yuzovskaya runs her set like an old but reliable steam engine locomotive. Except this train is going to Hogwarts. Mary is a responsible conductor, making sure everyone is on board, getting their bodies going at a steady pace, warming up the system for what's to come. Later. Her sound lives in a hypnotic but assertive space. The hypnotic part comes from steady patterns that loop and settle into the body. Rhythms that repeat long enough to quiet the thinking mind.
