The Rays blow a 4 run lead in game 2 of the World Series to lose 5-4. The Rays got off to a blistering start. The scored 4 runs in the 1st inning. Starting with a Chandler Simpson RBI single that made it 1-0. That was followed up by a Junior Caminero RBI single that made it 2-0. Liam Hicks smacked a 2 run homer that made it 4-0. The Brewers got 2 runs back right away to make it 4-2. From then on it was the Brewers applying constant pressure as the Rays just tried to hang on. The Rays could not hang on as the Brewers scored in the 4th, 6th, and 7th to take the lead. The Rays offense could not get another run after the 1st inning as they had multiple opportunities to do so but could not come through. The Rays drop game 1 of the World Series 3-2. The Brewers jumped on the Rays right away. They scored 2 runs in the 1st inning to take a 2-0 lead. After that Rays starter Nick Martinez really settled in. He finished going 5 IP striking out 5 and not allowing another run after the 1st inning. The ays got thrown out on the base paths twice and did not record a hit with RISP. The Brewers got a much needed insurance run in the 7th that made it 3-1. The Rays outlast the Guardians 3-1 in game 5. The Rays offense was all over the Guardians pitching early. The Rays scored in the 1st inning on a bases loaded walk to make it 1-0. They added to their lead in the 2nd inning with a RBI single by Jonathan Aranda that made it 2-0. Liam Hicks gave the Rays a 3-0 lead after the 3rd inning with a RBI single of his own. 3 runs was all the Rays would need because of another fantastic outing my Drew Rasmussen. Ras went 7 IP striking out 6 and only allowing 1 run. The Rays bullpen picked up 6 huge outs to seal the win. The Rays are now just 1 win away from their 3rd World Series appearance in franchise history.
