Nebraska football mailbag: The fans have spoken – and they’re worried about Bryce Underwood

In the end, Michigan’s edge at the line of scrimmage was too significant. The Nebraska football team lost 30-27 on Saturday to the Wolverines, a 28th consecutive defeat against an AP-ranked opponent. Even with two gift-wrapped scoring opportunities on which Nebraska capitalized, it could not overcome Michigan’s dominance up front. The Huskers left points on the field, too. But we don’t believe that’s what cost the Huskers this game. Dylan Raiola was sacked seven times. The quarterback still threw for 308 yards and three scores. He was surly in defeat – and that’s OK. Big Ten football season is here for Nebraska. And not a moment too soon after Matt Rhule’s Huskers dispatched Houston Christian 59-7 on Saturday at Memorial Stadium. The football game felt like something of an undercard ahead of the big event that involved Nebraska on Saturday night in Las Vegas. Rhule was there at Allegiant Stadium – and so was AD Troy Dannen – to see Terence “Bud” Crawford beat Canelo Alvarez in a unanimous decision. What a moment for Crawford and his favorite football program, whose players and coaches sent him plenty of love back in Lincoln earlier in the day.
