10 Years, 740 Episodes...What's Next?

Ten years. 740 episodes. And for now, it's time to put the podcast on pause. In this episode, I want to take you back through the journey that brought me here. From leaving corporate America and buying an ice cream shop just before the 2008 crash, to discovering how many small business owners were making decisions without understanding their numbers, to launching the Local Small Business Coach podcast in 2016. Over the years, the podcast evolved. We became Badass Business Owners. We talked about sales, pricing, customers, employees, business mistakes and, more than anything, how to build a more profitable business. Along the way, my own life and businesses evolved too. I've reached a point where I need to create some space to figure out what's next. I want to get back to creating more tools, training and videos that can actually show you how to understand your Profit & Loss, use your business numbers and make better decisions. So this isn't really goodbye. The podcast is going on hold, but the mission isn't. I still want to help small business owners understand their numbers, grow their profits and build businesses that support the lives they want to live. ✏️ Your Profit & Loss is the report card for your business. If you're making decisions based only on your bank balance, you're missing one of the most powerful tools available to you. Learn what a P&L is, why it matters, and how it can help you build a more profitable business. 🔑 Key Takeaways Your P&L is the report card for your business. A bank balance doesn't tell you whether you're profitable. Your P&L follows a simple flow: Sales - Cost of Goods - Expenses = Profit. Gross profit is not the same as your final profit. Hiring your next employee might be the best decision you ever make... or one of the most expensive mistakes. Fear comes in many forms. Sometimes it's fear of numbers. Sometimes it's fear of what those numbers will tell you.
