UX Design for AI and ML - Josh Clark, Big Medium

On today's episode we tackle networks, cybersecurity, and business leadership with the brilliant, John Proctor, CEO of Martello. HQ’d in Kanata Ontario, with offices in Europe and the United States. Martello is a leader in network performance. Martello products include unified communications performance management software, IT systems visualization software, and SD-WAN technology. While we often hear the push for new and faster network installations, but we often overlook the need to make our current networks more efficient. Martello products have been deployed in over 175 countries, supporting over 5,000 networks. Martello is on a rapid growth trajectory due to the superior quality of products and services they provide, and part of their growth strategy is acquisitions.

On today’s episode we speak with a well known Canadian technology and business leader, Leo Lax, who is currently spearheading L-Spark - a business and technology accelerator in Kanata, Ontario with a national and global reach.  L-Spark has accelerated more than 50 companies to date, and raised 45m$ by the portfolio, and now offers 3 different accelerator programs.  While SaaS remains a large focus for L-Spark, their latest acceleration programs are a vehicle for technological innovation for autonomous vehicles, healthcare, rail, and secure IoT among others. 

Gary Davis, Chief Consumer Security Evangelist at McAfee. For nearly 10 years, Gary has held leadership roles in the consumer and enterprise divisions where he has helped shape various product portfolios and strategic direction, along with advocating for cybersecurity education. Prior to joining McAfee, Gary held senior management positions for more than 20 years in technology companies. Gary served on the board of directors of the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA). Gary is a sought-after speaker on trends in digital security including the evolving threat landscape, privacy and securing the Internet of Things. Traveling to Ottawa from the United States, IoT613 was honoured to have Gary speak at the 2019 IoT613 Conference.

Ms Helen holds a PHD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carleton University and is also an adjunt professor.

Constable Kevin Bradford, Ottawa Police Service As all industries are rapidly changing with technological advancements and policing is no different. Law enforcement is constantly exploring new tools including drone technology for investigations and is working to keep up with changing legislations and policies. Of course as tools evolve so does the amount of data and information that is available and takes time to analyze and report. Autonomous vehicles open up a new way of thinking about public safety and more . We had the pleasure to speak with Constable Bradford at the 3rd Annual IoT613 Conference. Constable Bradford is a Fatal Collision Investigator who has been deploying new technologies in accident investigations for the past decade, we spoke about the use of drones, 3d modelling, autonomous vehicles, legislations and more..
