The grand tour was also utilized by architects, potential wealthy home builders, and owners of large tracks of land to glean architectural ideas for building their own English Country House.

Inspiring and established artists used their version of the grand tour to copy the antiquarian master paintings. These were not wealthy enough to be part of the actual grand tour: they were hangers on, either fighting for scraps doled out by the wealthier visitors, making contacts that would be invaluable back home or simply mastering a style.
