This month's episode of the Herbal Journey Podcast we dove into discussions on how to access the wisdom of the body by unlocking the messages, lessons, and ancestral programs that we are here to learn and experience in this lifetime through the eyes. What can these powerful organs show us as we dive into the powerful insights that our eyes, also known as the windows to the soul can unlock through behavioral iridology. We discuss the basic aspects and patterns that a iris reading can reveal, how it can show you the generational patterns you were brought here to learn, and Jim's amazing story of his transformational healing journey.  Jim Verghis is regarded as one of the world’s leading authorities on trans-generational behavioral patterns and how they correlate to accidents, illness and disease patterns. He has worked national and internationally since founding the Institute of Behavioral Iridology, in 2001. In 1978, Jim had a near death experience falling 44’ from a roof, fracturing his pelvis in six places. He has been a zealot to discover and practice what it takes to heal his pain from a traumatic injury. He began exploring holistic and more natural therapies in the fall of 1980. He explored and tried everything he could find. In the process he realized the emotional and mental pain were active contributors to his physical condition. He found some amazing teachers to address the pain on all levels. He learned pain was his teacher when he got the lesson, the pain would go away. It was a process of transmutation turning the energy of the pain from (darkness), into light (love). For him, healing was not trying to make something go away. The word “heal” means to make more whole. In this month's episode of The Herbal Journey podcast, we visit with Colton Campitelli from Abby's Acre Farm. A veteran run non-profit sustainable urban market garden that provides fresh local produce to the community. It is a place for veterans to come together to find the support they need for PTSD and other mental health conditions through their coffee for vets events and volunteer farming opportunities. Today's guest is a friend we met from our travels in Louisiana. A military veteran and former US Navy helicopter search and rescue swimmer and EMS rescue responder. After years of service he found himself at a loss of what to do next with his career, after being diagnosed 100% disabled and knowing that he could no longer do the same career he was trained to do and had done for several years. Gardening had been a part of his family life since he was a kid, and he didn't realize the impact it would have on his own life and healing, nor the impact it would have on his fellow veterans. He helps with his non-profit for veterans sustainable urban garden, Abby's acres. Abby's acres began to want the same camaraderie and responsibility through service he felt working with others to accomplish a mission, but this time the mission was mental health and helping veterans like himself, who suffer from PTSD symptoms and other mental health issues. In this month's episode of The Herbal Journey podcast, we dive into the Acadian culture and traditions of the Cajun Healer or Traiteur in French. Traiteur's have been treating the ill and injured around the bayous since the eighteenth century with this generational practice of faith healing. In this episode, we had the pleasure of meeting with Colby Hébert, a New Iberia, LA native and generational Traiteur since the age of 11.Colby Hébert has always had a deep pride and passion for his Louisiana roots. Since 2016, he has used his custom hat business "The Cajun Hatter" as an avenue to express and preserve elements of Cajun and Creole culture. Currently, he has shifted his preservation efforts toward the healing tradition, which he has long been a part. In this episode, we discuss the traditions of this Cajun and Creole inspired method of faith healing. In his talk, "The Cajun Healer: Revival and Renewal", Hébert will share his perspectives on how we can honor tradition while embracing the changes necessary to sustain it. We had the pleasure of meeting Colby and his wife on our Herbal Journey and visiting his custom hat shop in downtown Lafayette, LA. The shop is so neat, the hats are as amazing as the process done to make them, and the Southern hospitality is never short here. We enjoyed sips of his favorite rum from old English tea cups, as the pirates would, as we shared discussions around healing traditions, native herbs, hat making, and more.
