Uncle Si Inspired the 'Wild Brothers' to Film Their Own TV Show

Uncle Si never knew he was inspiring four kids halfway around the world until he met Kian and Asher Wild. The brothers grew up in a remote Indonesian jungle, where their missionary parents built a home, learned an unwritten language, and even converted their witch doctor neighbor to Christianity. Martin and John-David can barely wrap their heads around the boys’ childhood adventures, from terrifying nighttime hunts to getting their noses pierced at 10 years old. The brothers also trace their filmmaking journey back to watching ‘Duck Dynasty’ on a pirated hard drive, proving the swamp and the jungle had more in common than anyone expected. Si revisits the frightening night before his emergency heart surgery, the conversation he had with God, and Phil's typically casual reaction to the whole ordeal. Godwin proves he's had a front-row seat to some of the wildest Robertson family moments, from legendary arguments to fiercely competitive game nights, including the time Phillip escaped through a bathroom window just to avoid the trash talk. Si recounts his latest alligator-hunting adventure, and stuns everyone with his surprisingly accurate knowledge about geese that are better guard dogs than dogs. John Luke Robertson officially joins the team as co-producer, and the boys revisit some of their favorite bits, read a few savage comments from the internet, and throw around ideas for who should show up next. Uncle Si creates a guest wish list that includes a hypnotist, and Hunter happens to know one because of course he does. Martin is still holding out for Steve Harvey, and John Luke and John-David finally come clean about the fountain prank that may or may not have crossed into soapy terrorism. Uncle Si looks back on going to war at just 20 years old and admits it sounds even crazier now than it did then. The boys reflect on the young Americans who have stepped up in impossible moments, including the passengers who fought back on 9/11. Martin remembers exactly where he was when the attacks happened and Phillip wrestles with what it means that an entire generation now knows that day only as history. John-David’s son joined the middle school drumline, resulting in video gold. Plus, Si comes back from a trip to visit Matthew McConaughey’s brother full of tales of late-night karaoke, poker games, and questionable sleep habits. Uncle Si thinks he knows how the world ends, and apparently the robots will have a lot to do with it. Martin gets a kick out of Trump’s renaming spree, even if he admits some of it is getting hard to take seriously. Godwin finally has answers after surgery to remove the mystery mass in his shoulder, and John-David learns a ridiculous British word for a certain part of the male anatomy and immediately adds it to his vocabulary. Macy Watkins Johnston fits right in as she shares how her old-school country upbringing turned into a massive social media following. She tells the story of meeting her husband on a turkey hunt and somehow ends up in Uncle Si’s long-running black panther debate. Martin and Macy compare notes on gardens, chickens, and the country skills younger generations are losing, while Si takes the conversation off the rails with snake stories and plenty of questionable wisdom. Macy closes things out with the faith behind her new Dear Y’all Podcast and why Psalm 37 has become one of her favorite passages. Uncle Si somehow makes it all the way to work before finding out Christine is in the hospital, then gives an encouraging update on how she’s doing now. Godwin prepares for surgery the next morning and compares the strange new realities of getting older. Martin gets uneasy watching freakishly fast robots wipe out at full speed and joins the debate over whether technology is heading somewhere nobody wants it to go. John-David gets roasted after a clip goes viral, then helps uncover one of Si’s wildest Vietnam stories about a soldier getting creative to get his fix.
