Born in a small city like Agra where she used to be the only woman amongst hundreds of boys to play cricket, little did she or anyone knew, she would go on to become one of the remembered Indian Cricketers who played with an average of 50.00+ in Test Cricket. Yes we are talking about, none other than Hemlata Kala, a predominantly fearless cricketer who had the conviction and mindset to make it big from a place where no one could imagine. Hemlata Kala used to be one clean hitter of the ball right through her childhood and little did she know that her skill of being an absolute big hitter would help her represent Agra, Uttar Pradesh, Central Zone, Railways and India in Tests and ODI’s. One of the experienced cricketers from the previous era of Indian Cricket Team, Hemlata Kala shares us many insightful stories of her cricketing journey which is nothing less than an inspiration for many women cricketers. For the uninitiated, Hemlata Kala was also the chairperson of Indian Women Team’s selection Committee from 2016 to 2020. She was instrumental in giving opportunities to many talented cricketers who were performing well at domestic level and the ones who deserved to represent their nation.
