Taking Responsiblity for Your Orgasm

Whether you realize it or not, your spouse cannot make you orgasm. Your spouse can make you a priority, learn about what works for you, and encourage you, but they cannot make it happen. And... putting responsiblity where it does not belong is not fair and will add all kinds of unhelpful pressure. So, I want to share what I have learned about taking responsibility for myself.

From growing up as a pastors kid and having lots of unanswered questions, Amber made some choices that filled her with shame. But today she lives in freedom because she has received God's gift of redemption and knows that regardless of her past, God chose her.

During sex we always have meanings running through our mind. Sometimes they are lies about our husband and other times they are lies about ourselves. But we must become aware of what we are telling ourselves during sex, quesion whether it is true, and if it is not, decide what truth to tell ourselves. It is by taking our minds captive, and our body experiencing the truth, that we change what we believe.

This young bride knew enough to keep asking questions and be patient with herself as she figured out sex in marriage. There is a lot to be learned from her example of looking for other Christians for guidance, and challenging the silence around sex that exists in church.

Your thoughts about sex, not only impact whether you are open to connecting with your spouse. Your thoughts about sex impact your physical response during sex. Start paying attention to the meanings that you put to sex and you will have greater understanding about why your body does or does not respond during sex.
