Alleigha Botner returned to the stand in the Caleb Flynn murder trial and read messages she testified were exchanged with Flynn before the death of his wife, Ashley Flynn. One February 2025 message she attributed to Caleb said, “I need her to die, leave, or cheat again.” Botner also testified that she sent Flynn instructions on deleting messages because she was concerned the messages could be subpoenaed in a divorce case. When prosecutors asked her about another exchange, Botner read a message in which she asked what he wanted her to do and said his response was, “Kill Douche.” The testimony came from what Botner described as 34 books of messages collected between her and Flynn. She read additional exchanges in which she testified that Flynn said he hated Ashley and wanted her dead. Prosecutors also played videos Botner said Caleb sent to her. Flynn, 40, has pleaded not guilty to 11 counts, including aggravated murder, in Ashley Flynn’s death at their Tipp City home. Three details from the crime scene testimony reportedly tell investigators more than any single piece of forensic evidence could. A towel placed over Ashley Flynn's head. A front door that was unlocked despite alleged signs of forced entry. Covering the face is reportedly one of the most reliable indicators that the killer had a personal relationship with the victim. It suggests guilt, shame, or an inability to confront the physical reality of what was done. Strangers almost never do this.The alleged staged break-in is next. Prosecutors told the jury that the damage to the front door was caused by multiple tools and did not match any known pattern of forced entry. The door itself was unlocked. Alleigha Botner testified that on February 14 Caleb Flynn messaged her that he was finally free of Ashley Flynn and had told Ashley he wanted a divorce. FBI forensic examiner Sarah Stuchell, meanwhile, conceded on cross that her tool-mark testing could not identify who used any tested tool or establish that a tested tool was used on the door. Caleb Flynn is charged in the death of his wife, Ashley Flynn. He has pleaded not guilty. She said Flynn told her he hated Ashley, described the marriage as essentially over, and said he was staying for his children. Botner testified that Flynn said he wanted Ashley gone every week and said at least monthly that he wanted her to die. She also testified that he once said that if he could kill Ashley without going to jail or going to Hell, he would. Botner said she repeatedly gave Flynn deadlines to leave the marriage. She testified that on February 14 he messaged that he was finally free of Ashley and had told her he wanted a divorce. Jill Smith's phone rang at 3 a.m. on February 16. It was her son-in-law, Caleb Flynn, telling her someone had broken in and shot Ashley.
