Caleb Flynn Trial Day 3: Print Expert Could NOT Say WHAT?

Alleigha Botner testified that on February 14 Caleb Flynn messaged her that he was finally free of Ashley Flynn and had told Ashley he wanted a divorce. FBI forensic examiner Sarah Stuchell, meanwhile, conceded on cross that her tool-mark testing could not identify who used any tested tool or establish that a tested tool was used on the door. Caleb Flynn is charged in the death of his wife, Ashley Flynn. He has pleaded not guilty. She testified that on February 14 he messaged that he was finally free of Ashley and had told her he wanted a divorce. Jill Smith's phone rang at 3 a.m. on February 16. It was her son-in-law, Caleb Flynn, telling her someone had broken in and shot Ashley. Det. Zachary Farkus and FBI Special Agent Sarah Deamron put the alleged break-in door under a microscope in the Caleb Flynn trial. Jesse Lee Calhoun grew up in Troutdale, Oregon, dropped out of high school, and racked up two decades of criminal convictions — assault, drugs, weapons, burglary. The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office called him a prolific thief and career criminal. In 2021, Governor Kate Brown granted him early release after he fought the 2020 Oregon wildfires as part of an inmate crew. He walked out of prison roughly a year ahead of schedule.Prosecutors now allege Calhoun killed six women in the Portland area between November 2022 and April 2023. Their ages ranged from twenty-two to thirty-two. Their bodies were found in secluded locations across Oregon and Washington — near state parks, along creeks, in an abandoned barn, in a pond. One victim's body has never been recovered. Only one cause of death has been publicly disclosed: blunt force trauma to the head.According to Ashley Real's father, she went to police in November 2022 with marks on her throat and identified Calhoun as the man who choked her. A report was filed and the case was transferred to another jurisdiction. She disappeared the following March and was found dead two months later. The Portland Police Bureau publicly denied any connection between the deaths. Officers later arrested Calhoun on a parole violation after he fled into the Willamette River. Indictments have been coming ever since — the sixth arrived September 16, 2026. Latent print expert Vicki Bartholomew testified that palm and latent prints recovered from the Flynn property matched Caleb Flynn. But on cross-examination, she acknowledged a key limitation: she could not determine when any of those prints were left. Bartholomew said palm prints found at the scene belonged to Caleb. She also testified that prints lifted from the door of the Ford truck and a palm print from the minivan matched Caleb.
