最近，一个话题在国内引发了很多讨论——“工资高但是很孤独的工作”。These are jobs that offer a lot of money (收入很高), but sometimes very little social life (但往往社交非常少）.这听起来是不是既现实又有点扎心？
01. What Are Lonely Jobs？什么是“高薪但孤独的工作”？
很多网友提到的一类工作是：长期驻外。这类工作requires working overseas for long periods of time (需要长期在海外工作的岗位)。
有些人一年到头都在国外，甚至节假日也只能一个人度过：
Even during holidays, they might spend time alone instead of celebrating with loved ones.
长期和家人分开，确实会带来很大的情感压力：“Being far from family for months or even years can feel very lonely（长时间远离家人，会让人感到非常孤独。）”
还有一些工作，是“物理上的孤独”。
比如守岛人：
Imagine waking up every day and seeing the ocean, but almost no people (但几乎看不到人)。
听起来很治愈，但时间久了：
“The lack of daily conversation can feel very isolating.”（缺乏日常交流会让人越来越孤独。）
还有一些高压技术岗位，比如保密工作：highly confidential (高度保密) and very stressful。
很多人几乎没有时间维持社交关系（maintain friendships）。
还有一些比较特殊的职业，比如：
mortician（入殓师）
crime scene cleaner（凶宅清理师）
这些工作收入不错，但：
“These jobs are not only lonely but sometimes emotionally heavy as well.”（不仅孤独，而且心理负担也很重。）
02. High-paid jobs from the US and France 美国和法国的一些高薪岗位
那在国外，有哪些类似的工作？
在美国，有一个典型例子是：deep-sea welder（深海焊工）
“These workers repair underwater equipment, sometimes hundreds of feet below the surface.”（他们在水下数百英尺进行设备维修。）
这个工作非常危险，但收入也很高。
另一个例子是：
air traffic controller（空中交通管制员）
虽然薪资高，但压力极大：
“They must stay focused for long periods of time, and the responsibility is huge.”（需要长时间保持专注，而且责任非常重大。）
在法国，也有一些类似的工作。
比如手工艺人：
artisans（手工艺人）
像面包师、奶酪师，甚至建筑行业的工人：
“They often wake up very early, like 3 or 4 am, and work long hours.”（他们通常凌晨三四点就要起床，工作时间很长。）
其实在很多情况下：
“Skilled manual workers can earn more than office workers.”（技术型体力劳动者，收入可能高于办公室工作者。）
03. Would You Choose One？你会选择这样的工作吗？
接下来就是一个很现实的问题：
Would you choose money or connection with people?（你会选择金钱，还是人与人之间的连接？）
Selah 的回答很直接：
“I would much rather choose connection with people.”（我更愿意选择人与人之间的连接。）
她也提到一个现实情况：
有些人为了钱放弃关系，最后却发现：
“They are so isolated and unhappy.”（变得孤独而不快乐。）
Maelle的看法是：
“I would not be able to do it for a long period of time.”（我很难长期做这样的工作。）
她用了一个很形象的词：
Thrive：如鱼得水、充分发挥才能
“I thrive in environments where I can connect with people.”（在可以和人建立连接的环境中，我才能发挥得更好。）
当然，也有人适合这样的生活方式。
“Some people enjoy independence and quiet time.”（有些人喜欢独立和安静。）
但从整体来看：
“Humans are social beings.”（人是社会性动物。）
长期缺乏交流，可能会带来心理压力。
04. Health Risks of Loneliness 孤独的健康影响
孤独不仅仅是情绪问题。
“Long-term loneliness can affect both mental and physical health.”（长期孤独会影响心理和身体健康。）
有些人甚至会在社交场合感到紧张或者不知道如何沟通。
They might miss social cues (领会不到社交信号) or feel uncomfortable in group settings.
这需要人们学会在金钱和身心健康之间找到平衡。
05. Career Choice and Passion 职业选择与热爱
节目中还有一个很有意思的问题：
如果可以选择另一份工作，你会选什么？
Maelle的答案是 psychology,心理学。
因为她喜欢connecting and helping people.（与人建立连接，并帮助别人。）
Selah 则选择了摄影，尤其是旅行摄影。
She really admires photography and loves to travel.（我非常热爱摄影，也喜欢旅行。）
虽然她也笑着说：
“I have no talent (天赋) haha.”
Career choices are not always about money.

passion（热爱）
lifestyle（生活方式）
