This month we take you to Abel Tasman Coast Track's Anchorage Hut. With bay views and a glorious sandy beach in front of Anchorage, even a crisp winter's day feels like a summer holiday.

A group of trampers, hunters, mountain bikers, and environmentalists converged for a Federated Mountain Clubs workshop in the Kaimai Ranges to discuss how to improve their local stomping grounds.

Pete Hall is the boisterous and exceedingly amiable hut warden of the Pinnacles Hut in the Coromandel Forest Park. Wilderness caught up with him one Saturday night in March, and heard the backstory of what it's like to work in one of one of New Zealand's most popular huts.
