Vision Sunday 2026 - Neighborhood Development

What does it mean to be a saint? On All Saints Sunday, we reflect on the Beatitudes and Jesus’ invitation to a life shaped by mercy, justice, and expansive love.

In this guided Lectio Divina practice, we follow the Lectionary Calendar to Leviticus 19:1-4,9-18, listening slowly and prayerfully to God's invitation to love our neighbors through the ordinary decisions of our lives.

What if we took Jesus' invitation to love our enemies and bless them seriously?  How would that change you?  How would that change the world? Pr. Keeyon invites us to lean into this command to love even our enemies.Matthew 5:38-48, CEB38 “You have heard that it was said, An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.[a] 39 But I say to you that you must not oppose those who want to hurt you. If people slap you on your right cheek, you must turn the left cheek to them as well. 40 When they wish to haul you to court and take your shirt, let them have your coat too. 41 When they force you to go one mile, go with them two. 42 Give to those who ask, and don’t refuse those who wish to borrow from you.43 “You have heard that it was said, You must love your neighbor[b] and hate your enemy. 44 But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who harass you 45 so that you will be acting as children of your Father who is in heaven. He makes the sun rise on both the evil and the good and sends rain on both the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love only those who love you, what reward do you have? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet only your brothers and sisters, what more are you doing? Don’t even the Gentiles do the same? 48 Therefore, just as your heavenly Father is complete in showing love to everyone, so also you must be complete.

We’re wrapping up the Practicing Our Faith summer series today. This series has highlighted voices from within our community, sharing how each of us embodies spiritual practices in everyday life. Spiritual Practices are concrete activities to engage in to open ourselves to the transforming presence of God. This week’s spiritual practice is Community, which is expressing and experiencing God's love through connection. It resists isolation and individualism by inviting us to share life with others beyond tasks and obligations. In community, we grow through caring for one another and allowing ourselves to be cared for, reflecting the love and belonging God intends for us. Born in El Salvador and re-rooted in Iowa through adoption at age eight, Ana Clymer has built a life grounded in faith, advocacy, and service.
