What do you do when your flesh wants something that you know is not good for you?   In this episode, I am sharing a real, unedited morning from our home after an exhausting night with our almost seven-month-old, Samuel. I was tired, my husband was frustrated, the kids were up early, and there was peanut butter everywhere! Underneath all of it was something much deeper: the daily battle between what our flesh desires in the moment and what we know God is asking of us. For my husband, one of those struggles has been caffeine. Not because coffee itself is automatically sinful, but because he knows his own patterns and triggers. Following Jesus does not mean we suddenly stop having those desires; sometimes it means feeling them and choosing obedience anyway. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.  Romans 13:14  “Put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.” (NKJV)  Sometimes victory is not about proving how close you can get to temptation without falling. Sometimes wisdom means not making provision for it in the first place.    Reflect With Me  What fleshly desire have I been struggling with lately?  Is there something I keep telling myself is “not a big deal,” even though I know where it tends to lead me?  What fruit is this producing in my life? Is it leading toward love, joy, peace and self-control, or away from them?  What might God be asking me to surrender even though my flesh does not want to?  Instead of asking, “Can I have this?” what would change if I asked, “Will this bring me closer to God or further away from Him?”  Then bring the honest answer to your Father. You do not have to make the prayer polished. Tell Him the truth.  Father, I’m struggling. Help me desire what You desire. Give me the strength to surrender what is pulling me away from You and teach me to walk by Your Spirit.
