Donald Trump has said he is considering pulling the US out of Nato, likening the alliance to a ‘paper tiger’. It comes after weeks of denouncements from the US president against allies for not helping to reopen the strait of Hormuz. When asked about Trump’s comments, Keir Starmer said: ‘Nato is the single most effective military alliance the world has ever seen’ and ‘whatever the noise, I’m going to act in the British national interest in all the decisions that I make’.
