The 2025 Iberian Blackout was a historic "total zero" event that simultaneously disconnected the power grids of Portugal and Spain from the rest of Europe. It was triggered by a technical failure in the high-voltage interconnector with France, which caused the Iberian Peninsula to become an "electrical island" unable to balance its own load.
