Episode 95: Luis Lara’s Debut, Woody’s Injury, and the Summer of Fun

The Brewers won 4 straight vs the Met and Rangers before things started trending downwards after the 1st inning of the series finale vs the Rangers. It was a Sunday loss followed by a terrible game to open the 4-gamer at Wrigley. Kyle Harrison got shelled, but the rivals face off for 6 more games. Andrew Fischer hit 3 homers in Biloxi to continue his hot season, plus promotions all over the farm!

The Mariners series was highlighted by a 22-0 victory. The Braves series included two wins and a fun game in Williamsport. The first game of the Mets series was highlighted by controversy when Pat Murphy pulled Cooper Pratt, and David Hamilton made a costly error in an extra innings loss. After a frustrating sweep in San Diego, the Brewers rallied in the 9th against Edwin Diaz to get back on the right foot and win two of the next three to take the 4-game series from the Dodgers in LA. Jake Bauers and Joey Ortiz powered the offense as they have been, and Logan Henderson outperformed Tarik Skubal, who were recently rumored in trade talks for each other.

It was a 5-2 homestand capped by some Luis Lara heroics and a Jake Bauers walkoff single. Unfortunately, the Crew was swept in an ugly series vs the Padres to start the west coast trip. That said, we aren’t worried about it! The potential Skubal return and Dustin May all continue to be successful in our organization!

The Brewers won 70 games faster than ever in franchise history and are the first team in MLB to 70 wins! Unfortunately, they lost out on the Skubal sweepstakes to the mighty Dodgers. It was a great deadline for the Crew outside of that, but can anyone beat LA in the playoffs anyways?

Cooper Pratt made his MLB debut in a successful first week, Brandon Woodruff returned and was excellent against the Reds, and Jacob Misiorowski was historically good in the first of two starts that we addressed.
