HeLIX Exploration PLC (AIM:HEX, OTCQB:HHEXF) CEO Bo Sears spoke with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the spudding of the Ollie #1 well and plans to test the northern extension of the Rudyard Field in Montana. Sears said Ollie #1 is targeting the northern flank of Rudyard, where the northern dome appears larger than previously anticipated, with the location chosen to test that extension and potentially become another helium production well. On what Helix expects to learn, Sears highlighted the presence of multiple stacked pays at Rudyard, with the company examining every formation encountered, including its target intervals and the Precambrian formation. "We're looking at everything, taking a really hard look at literally every formation we drill through in this particular well," he said, describing Ollie #1 as one the company believes could ultimately prove productive for helium. Sears also explained that Ollie #1 sits less than a mile from the existing gathering system, which currently terminates at Weil #1. If it delivers the expected flow and helium results, connecting it to the pipeline could take a couple of weeks to a month once vendors and crews are available. Beyond Ollie #1, Helix has surveyed four new wells and is reviewing them before submitting to the state, with Sears saying drilling across the Rudyard anticline is expected to continue over the coming months and years. The company is also developing a new membrane to increase gross gas throughput alongside its existing pressure swing adsorption system.
