TOASTED: Chesney Hawkes

Hello Toasters and welcome back to another TOASTED, the show where we take a quick look through a few odds and ends which the main pod interviews have brought up. Today we discuss Campervans, leaving everything behind on a whim, and just how bad you have to be at singing to get into a choir.Next week - Farell Hegarty joins us on the show! See you then!Team Toast x

Hi Toasters!First up THANKYOU for dropping by and lending us your ears once again. It's a right banger of an episode today. Chesney Hawkes is of course best known for his 1991 hit The One And Only. But, guess what, turns out there's a whole FASCINATING life story just behind that and what better way to tell it than by diving into his Amazon account? We go from the highs of mega hits, the lows of wanting to be Thom York, the drama of running into traffic in LA and the sweet beauty of a happy life looking out onto an English Country Garden. What a time he's having! And what a time you're about to have. As ever please do give us a nice review. They all really do help! And also as ever you can drop us an email - [email protected] if you have anything else to add for our Toasted episode which will be out next week.See you then!Tom x

Hello Toasters and welcome round the porch of one Kevin Eldon, whose post we'll be going through this week in order to nosily find out every last thing about him. It's an honour to catch up with Kev, who is genuinely one of the best comedy actors in the UK. He's also one of the last ones standing, but that's by the by. He's really funny which really helps with interview format. Along the way we'll discuss The Beatles, Buddhism and just how much he loves Shakin' Stevens and most importantly WHY he loves Shakin' Stevens (it's not a Christmas thing, believe it or not). Anyway enjoy the episode and don't forget to find us on all your socials. AND guys we've also got a substack that no-one's reading so maybe drop in there if you fancy?ok cheers all see you next week for Toasted!Tom x

TOASTED: Caravans, Crap Musicians & The British AbroadWhat happens when you discover you’re just… not very good at something? This week, Tom and Beth discuss the hobbies we should probably have abandoned years ago, including the brutal question of whether some of us simply have no musical ability whatsoever.Elsewhere, we get into the peculiar British obsession with caravanning, the reality of running an Airbnb, and why white vinegar appears to have become the answer to virtually every domestic problem known to humankind.Plus: what gives you away as British when you’re abroad? Is it the apologising? The queuing? The sunburn? Or simply being unable to order a coffee without somehow making the whole interaction awkward?Another rummage through the stuff we buy, the things we do, and the minor domestic nonsense that somehow takes over our lives.Got a story, recommendation, terrible purchase or something you think Tom and Beth need to discuss?📧 [email protected] are some of the items mentioned on the show today:RESISTANCE BANDS ARE AMAZING!PRESS UPS WITHOUT WRIST PAIN!IAN MOORE WRITES AMAZING BOOKS!See you next time for some Kevin Eldon action! (which is up now at our Patreon!)Toast

Welcome back Toasters! It's another full blooded dive into a real life human's entire Amazon account. This week: comedian, writer, mod and now Frenchman - Ian Moore! There’s a £2,500 camper van bought from a man who literally ran away after taking Ian’s cash, disastrous family caravanning holidays, a guitar teacher who delivered a brutally honest verdict on Ian’s musical abilities, and the small matter of a dead chicken being buried underneath the family broadband cable.Along the way we discover why Ian can’t relax ( I mean who actually CAN though really), why rural French life hasn’t made him remotely less British, and why a dodgy internet connection may occasionally be the fault of a deceased hen. Yep. You heard.Funny, wonderfully digressive and exactly what My Mate Bought a Toaster does best: one online shopping history, one life story. My Mate Bought a Toaster with Tom Price. New episodes every other week.Check out Ian and all his new book releases over at https://www.ianmoore.info

Hello Toasters!Welcome back to another episode of Toasted - the in between week where we have a look through the previous interview and reflect on some of the high (vis) points and lows (rat pasta). As usual there's some ridiculous products mentioned and recommended, and we've stuck some affiliate links here if you fancy a look.Don't forget to give us a follow on the old socials, and we'll see you next time for some Ian Moore!Team Toast xSpin scrubber: https://amzn.to/4d5D0LkFrench posh squash: https://amzn.to/3UHA15ATHE T-shirt folder: https://amzn.to/4iU3frOSupoon: https://amzn.to/4r1a8cZMethod tropical coconut Fabric conditioner: https://amzn.to/4r3YM7ZRAT PASTA - https://amzn.to/4ypab4J

Oh hey ToastersWelcome to another episode of Amazon History Diving! This week we have huge news: Jamelia has bought a LOT of things on Amazon. Like, a LOT.295 orders in a single year, in fact. Spoiler alert there.Behind the stationery, fabric conditioner, photography equipment, rat poison, high-vis clothing and inexplicable metal detector, though, is the story of an extraordinary few years and an extraordinarily cool woman. This week, during a brilliantly candid rummage through another Amazon history, Jamelia (WHO IS A FAN OF THE SHOW) takes us from homeschooling and the terrifying intrusion of the tabloid press, through lockdown and an ever-changing collection of new hobbies, to the breakdown of her marriage while pregnant with her fourth daughter and the beginning of a completely new life in Dubai. Drama-rama, frankly.Along the way we discover why writing her own songs was one of the best decisions Jamelia ever made, why she once dressed like a construction worker simply because she had hired a skip, why her attempt to make all her baby's clothes resulted in precisely ZERO garments, and why one of her daughters has recently required a metal detector. It's funny, surprisingly moving and gloriously chaotic. Because of COURSE it is because it's My Mate Bought a Toaster!Welcome to the many, many, MANY Amazon eras of Jamelia.Don't forget to give us a big fat follow on all the socials please:📺 YouTube🎵 TikTok📸 Instagram📘 FacebookSee you next time!Team toast x

Tom and Beth are back for another serving of TOASTED—the My Mate Bought a Toaster aftershow. This week, we return to Kelechi Okafor’s extraordinary shopping history to investigate the products that raised even more questions. We read reviews of anti-sitting spikes, discover the alarming world of foot-numbing cream and discuss whether tarot cards predict the future—or simply give people the rare pleasure of feeling properly seen. There are also five listener emails, two utterly ridiculous signs and several contributions from the dogs, who apparently believed they had been booked as regular guests.Links to some of the products discussed are here look:DO NOT SIT HERE SIGNANTI SITTING HERE SPIKESNUMBING CREAMTOASTED: more purchases, more stories and considerably more background barking.

Kelechi Okafor once moved to Atlanta because she believed she and Ciara should be friends. There was no meeting arranged. No address. Not really even a plan. She just… went to Atlanta.Which gives you some idea of the energy of this week’s My Mate Bought a Toaster, especially with that being THE FIRST SENTENCE OF THE SHOW.Strap in.Via Kelechi's online shopping history, Tom discovers an extraordinary trail through acting, personal training, pole dancing, homemade wigs, hot yoga, tarot, Muay Thai and a frankly alarming approach to protecting the radiator covers in her studio. Alarming and also completely ineffective. There’s also the small matter of turning 40 and inventing geriatric twerking, why you should be VERY careful about the words “in perpetuity” in a contract, the joys of window-shopping death and why Kelechi is simply too sexy to give away the rights to her voice and likeness forever. One online shopping history. One life story. It's another My Mate Bought a Toaster! Also go and check out our friends at Great Oak Farm. They're ecologists and writers who specialise in the most BEAUTIFUL kids' books. Here's a link look. It's only a few quid and there's Apple Pay so it's done in seconds!See you next week for more Toasted!
