2023 was a disastrous season for the Carolina Panthers as the franchise became the first to ever go 2-15. Besides the record, the biggest failing for the Panthers was lack of development of rookie QB Bryce Young. The system that Young was dropped into in Carolina proved to be one not fit for a rookie QB to find early success. For their efforts, head coach Frank Reich and general manager Scott Fitterer were relieved of their duties and the organization went to work on fixing it's hopeful franchise QB Bryce Young. Young's situation in Carolina isn't unique. Much like the Carolina Panthers offense, the Panthers defensive unit went through a minor roster overhaul of its own. The Carolina Panthers added yet another running back to the roster on Monday. The Panthers agreed to terms with running back Rashaad Penny, who spent the first four years of his career with the Seattle Seahawks before spending last season with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Carolina Panthers offense has undergone a complete remodel after a putrid 2023 season. Dave Canales comes over from Tampa Bay, where he served as the Buccaneers offensive coordinator, to lead the charge as the Panthers head coach and offensive play caller. The Carolina Panthers crossed off several boxes during the 2024 NFL Draft but still have several holes on the roster that will need to be addressed. While Carolina added DB Chau Smith-Wade over the weekend, Smith-Wade is expected to play the nickel role for Carolina as opposed to being an outside CB. The Panthers also went through the draft without adding to the offensive line, in particular at center. The 2024 NFL Draft has come to a close as the Carolina Panthers welcome a seven-man draft class to Charlotte. Carolina went in with several glaring needs and adequately addressed almost all of them through the three days in Detroit. The biggest was the need to surround Bryce Young with more offensive talent. The Panthers wasted no time by trading into the first round to select South Carolina WR Xavier Legette, and then on Day 2, traded back then up in the second round to select Texas RB Jonathon Brooks. Finally, to begin Day 3 of the draft, Carolina addressed the hole at tight end by selecting Ja'Tavion Sanders from Texas. The Panthers have undergone a makeover on defense as stalwarts Brian Burns, Donte Jackson, Frankie Luvu, and Jeremy Chinn all departed during the free agency period.
