Let's see this part, guys! Jakarta Allows Sports Centers to Reopen for Sports Activities
The Jakarta Youth and Sports Office allowed sports activities to resume at sports centers with a 50 percent capacity limit as the province's public activities restriction (PPKM) status has improved to level 2. "As the province's PPKM status improved to level 2, activities at sports centers in Jakarta could resume, based on the Jakarta Youth and Sports Office Decree Number 101 of 2021," the office confirmed in its official Instagram page disporadkijkt on Sunday. Indoor and outdoor sports centers in Jakarta were allowed to reopen with capacity limit restrictions and health protocol enforcement applied, the office stated. "During the PPKM level 2 period, residents could participate in sports activities in indoor and outdoor sports centers reopened with 50 percent capacity limit, provided that they observe health protocol and present their vaccine certificate prior to entry," it affirmed.
With the resumption of sports activities, the sports centers could again host training sessions for national and regional teams, especially for athletes participating in the XVI National Paralympics Week to be held in Papua next November. The authority also allowed sports competitions to take place at sports centers, yet the organiser should apply for permits from the central government, the police, and the local COVID-19 task force. Despite the sports centers reopening, the Youth and Sports Office informed event organisers who seek to utilise the sports centers for cultural events or other purposes must refer to the regional tourism office regulation as the decree regulating sports centres reopening does not regulate events outside sports.
One of the reopened sports centres at Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta, had hosted a student-level basketball final match on Saturday (Oct 23). The final match was attended by the Youth and Sports Minister Zainudin Amali, Jakarta's Youth and Sports Office Head Achmad Firdaus, and Central Jakarta Deputy Mayor Irwandi to support the competing teams and observe health protocol implementation at the sports center.
Approaching New Year: Jakarta Warns of Potential Third Wave of Covid-19
Head of Epidemiology and Immunization Surveillance Section of DKI Jakarta Health Service Nabila Salma, said that there are five factors that can increase the transmission of Covid-19. She also raised awareness on the potential of third Covid-19 infection wave, especially during the new year period. "Towards the end of year, usually the case are increasing," Nabila said while providing an explanation broadcasted through the Cilincing PKC Youtube account, as quoted by Tempo on Friday, October 22 , 2021.
The new variant of the virus is the first factor. Nabila gives an example that the Delta Variant can be easily transmitted, more deadlier, and has the capability of infecting children. "There are dangerous variants, like Delta among the new 24 mutated viruses," Nabila explained. Another Factor, Nabila added, is the the vaccination program which are not spread evenly. According to her, vaccination in Jakarta has reached 80 percent, but in other areas it has only reached 30 to 40 percent.
The third factor according to Nabila is intense social interaction following the easing of public mobility restriction. "The one who has not been vaccinated is the reason for the increasing of number of cases and a new mutating virus," Nabila said. Furthermore, Nabila also mentioned that there are people who do not obey Covid-19 Health Protocol. Nabila said that people should continue to wear masks, wash hands, keep their distance, avoid crowds, prevent high mobility and avoid eating out together. Another factor to be aware of as Nabila explained, is the emergence of fake news or hoax. People need to check the truth of an information posted on the internet.
