En kort seiltur på fjorden for noen år siden var alt som skulle til. I vårest kastet Betzy Hansen loss fra Vollen og satt kursen mot Lofoten. Store deler av turen har hun gjort solo, men hun har også tatt med venner og familie langs vår storslagne kyst. Nå er hun i Lofoten og der har hun tenkt å bli over vinteren. Sunday Septembre 6th the starting gun went of in Les Sables d'Olonne and thereby sending 16 solosailors out on a 7-9 months round the world adventure without stops. We sat down with the only female sailor in the fleet Helga Marie Løvenskiold Kveseth, also known as Mara, the day before start. Ella Hibbert (29), aka Ella in the Arctic, finished a record-breaking North West Passage solo last year. Now she is back at her boat to finish what she started: A circumnavigation of the Arctic, and she will be heading for the Northern Sea Route at the beginning of August.  Ella's Arctic expedition is officially endorsed by the Scientific Exploration Society and she is also part of The International SeaKeepers Society. Johanna Brämersson og Sigurd Tengs la ut på en tre år lang bryllupsseilas med Thindra, en Ansö 42, i 2023. 1170 Instagram-poster og like mange dager senere har de kommet tilbake til Oslo. Turen jorden rundt har satt spor og en appetitt på mer eventyr. Men akkurat nå er det hverdagseventyret som venter på de to. The Norwegian solo sailor Erik Aanderaa is a man who lives out his sailing dreams. This summer he has sailed to the Arctic dream landscape Svalbard. We talked to him as he was getting ready to ride out a gale in Kinnvika, all the way north on Nordaustlandet. Dane Sidse Birk Johannsen, better known as Sisi at Sea, has sailed from Denmark to Lofoten in her C&C 37 this summer. In this podcast she shares her experience, her best anchorages, the rough weather in Sognefjorden, and the glory of sailing among the rocks and skerries on Helgelandskysten, and being part of the Træna Music Festival. Now she is planning to leave her boat in the Arctic and maybe do some winter sailing.  You can follow her on Sisi at Sea. Harry Anderson has sailed and flown solo to all seven continents. This summer, he is taking his S/V Phywave, an Allures 40.9 lifting keel aluminum boat, through the Northern Sea Route and the Northwest Passage in one exhausting solo passage.  First stop is Vardø, Norway, to bunker up and hopefully fix the heating system. Erik Lindholm og Maren Sævold kastet loss fra Oslo i mai. Nå har de kurs mot  Cape Horn og det eventyrlige seilområdet Patagonia. Det er drømmen om vill natur, utfordringen med å klare seg selv og ikke se andre mennesker på ukevis som trekker de to erfarne seilerne. Båten er en rød 49 fots stålseiler fra 1983 som har vært i området tidligere. Nå er det nye eventyr som lokker både mannskap og båt. Tone Jørgensen fant ut han ville flytte hjem til Sandsøya utenfor Harstad - og hva var vel ikke mer naturlig enn å seile Arctic Vibe, hennes Maxi Fenix 28, hele veien fra Tønsberg og hjem til nord. 18. mai kastet hun loss. 22. juni kom hun tilbake til Tønsberg uten Arctic Vibe. Båten ligger igjen i Måløv med alvorlige motorproblemer, men Tone er ikke i tvil: Drømmen skal ikke dø i den lille byen før Stadt. Hun skal tilbake i august for å fortsette seilturen nordover. Et nytt liv venter i den andre enden. Et annet liv tett på naturen og med enda mer seiling i vente. The Knut is an all-electric aluminum expedition boat, and we have made a podcast with Ben Ruffieux about the innovative boat and how it sank in Greenland.  To my surprise, I saw Ben and the Knut when I arrived in Lorient, France, with the Witness. He has been working hard to weld the boat together in Greenland, sail it without an engine to Lorient, and now is rebuilding the whole boat inside. We had to make a podcast about this sailor's determination, vision for a more environmentally friendly future for sailing, and his coming sailing plans.
