Hi everyone! We’ve got a special one for you this week. It’s Aaron Douglas! Aka Chief Galen Tyrol from Battlestar Galactica. Behind his gruff exterior, Aaron is an incredibly sensitive guy and a brilliant performer. We talk about how he booked Battlestar, how we both overcame imposter syndrome on set and how being part of the show changed his life. We also discuss his experience of losing his first wife to breast cancer at the end of the first season and how that impacted his performance. Outside of Battlestar, you may know him for his new role as Sid Sokolowski on Murder in a Small Town, as Gordon Rimmer in Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, or even from the many graphic novels he has written. Along with her husband Mike Flanagan, Kate has helped to create some of the most terrifying films and TV in recent memory. I was blown away by Kate’s performance as Maddie in Hush, which she also wrote. She also played Theodora Crain in Haunting of Hill House, Erin Greene in Midnight Mass and Camille L’Espanaye in The Fall of the House of Usher. She and Mike are releasing a new film, Life of Chuck, which is adapted from a Stephen King novel, but is a departure from the horror genre— I can’t wait to go and check it out! Kate has found her niche with horror, but she’s such a fantastic actor in everything she does, not to mention a great writer. We recorded the first half of this interview with Brent Spiner back in January, but we were interrupted because Brent had to evacuate from his home in the Palisades during the Los Angeles fires. Happy Tuesday! I love introducing you to my incredibly talented Mandalorian family and this week I am so excited to share my conversation with my friend Brendan Wayne. Along with Lateef Crowder and Pedro Pascal, Brendan is responsible for playing the Mandalorian. We talk about what it’s like to be in the suit and how it feels to build a character collaboratively. Brendan is the grandson of John Wayne and you can see that swagger in the way that Mando walks. He is also a fantastic actor in his own right, having appeared in Ahsoka as Lieutenant Lander, as well as in Sons of Anarchy and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Did you REALLY think we were done with Sam Witwer? When our last episode aired, Sam reached out to say he wanted to respond to some of what my producer Jeph and I said after the interview.
